Biblical Perspectives on Justice

Perceptive # 1. Judge By What Is Right.

Micah 6:8 NIV

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

To act justly means to do what is right. Do that which is according to God's standards. We can no longer be comfortable and untouched when our city continue to struggle racial injustice, child abuse, elder abuse, hunger and lack. As Christians it is our duty to step in and fill in the gaps in our society with solutions and grace.

Perspective #2 Feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, house the homeless and visit those in PRISON.

Matt 25:35 NIV For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.

Perspective #3 Speak Up for the rights of poor.

Proverbs 31:8 & 9 NIV

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Perspective # 4 Don't Hesitate or Hold Back from helping others.

Proverbs 3:27-28 NIV Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor "Go and come again tomorrow I will give it: when you have it with you now.

Perspective #5 Justice Brings Joy

Proverbs 21:15 NIV When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.

Perspective #6 Let Justice flow like waters

Amos 5:24 NIV But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.

Perspective # 7 Seek Justice

Isaiah 1: 17 NIV Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed.

Perspective #8 Don't defend the unjust,

Psalm 82:2 NIV How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked?

Perspective #9 Defend the weak and the fatherless

Psalm 82: 3 NIV Defend the weak and the fatherless, uphold the cause of the poor and the oppress.

Perspective #10 Deliver the weak

Psalm 82:4 NIV Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

Perspective # 11 NIV Do not tell the guilty they are innocent

Proverbs 24:24 NIV Whoever says to the guilty you are innocent , will be cursed by peoples and denounced by nations

Principle #12 Convict the Guilty

Proverbs 24:25

But it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and rich blessing will come on them.
