I recently published a book called Voices of Women Unleashed in Justice. I was amazed at the stories that the women shared. To my surprise the women were willing to share the pain and the ugly hidden parts of their lives that had been locked away in their unconscious and subconscious mind for years.
Two authors were profoundly impacted by their experiences, leading us to record their narrative. Their feelings were so intense that they were unable to articulate them on their own. Despite the difficulties they encountered, I discovered that they had already accomplished remarkable achievements in their lives. They had overcome substantial challenges, securing steady jobs and creating a dependable income stream that enabled self-reliance.
There were some themes that were consistent in their lives that I am willing to share.
Many women in the book had mothers who were either neglectful or deeply traumatized, making them unable or unwilling to properly care for their daughters. Despite this reality, the authors chose not to portray their mothers in a negative light.
Several women in the book shared experiences of being raped, molested, or sexually abused as children without anyone to protect them. They suffered years of abuse from individuals within their homes, family members, or trusted family friends. It is important to be vigilant about your children's safety, pay attention to their surroundings at home, church, and other community settings, and avoid situations that could put them at risk of sexual abuse.
Some women in the book recounted stories of enduring domestic violence, including my close friends who kept their suffering hidden for years. One author, a survivor of domestic violence, urges women to seek help, leave abusive situations, and protect themselves and their children from harm.
The book also sheds light on the challenges faced by immigrants in America, with one story highlighting the plight of a mother facing deportation despite having children born in the country.
While advocating for following immigration law, I believe we should create a fair and equitable system for all immigrants. Despite the hardships faced, the author of that particular story has been recognized for assisting others in the community striving to become legal citizens.
The book aims to empower women to change their lives, seek help when needed, and overcome adversity. The resilient women featured in the book serve as examples of strength and perseverance, showing that it is possible to overcome challenges and thrive.
